NCRL Rules
2008

1.      Each NASCAR team will be drafted based on a predefined set of groups determined by how the various drivers finished in the 2006 Cup final standings.  Each team will consist of one driver from each Group.

Group A  2007 top seven finishers

Group B  2007 finishers 8 through 14

Group C  2007 finishers 15 through 21

Group D  2007 finishers 22 through 28

Group E  2007 finishers 29 and down,
including any rookies who may not have driven a Cup Race in 2007.

After the sixth race (
Martinsville) the Groups will be set by the official NASCAR standings at that time.

 2.      The same driver may be "owned" by any number of teams.

 3.      The driver Groups will change after the 6th, (
Martinsville) 12th, (Lowe's)18th, (Daytona)24th, (Bristol) 30th (Talladega) races based upon the then current Cup points at the end of each six race period.  After the Cup standings are announced after each reevaluation race, any team that has two or more drivers in any one Group must submit a revised team with one driver in each Group prior to the next race. Changes made to teams to come into conformance with this rule are at no cost.  The Groupings set after the 30th race will take into account the adjustments made by NASCAR according to the new "Chase for the Championship" and will reflect the then current standings

4.      Revised teams (or changes to teams) MUST be submitted and received by E-mail to the Commissioner (and Webmaster and other teams) no later than mid-night the day preceding the scheduled Cup race.  Weather delays or other circumstances will not be considered as extending this deadline, unless the race is rescheduled for another weekend.  E-mails sent to the Commissioner, but not received by the Commissioner due to transmission issues relative to the sender's service will not be entertained.

5      A team's weekly scores will be the total Cup points accumulated by your team drivers, including bonus points.  If your driver starts the race, you will get credit for the Cup points awarded even if the driver has to be replaced during the race.  Standings are based on accumulated scores over the entire Cup season, without consideration for the adjustments made by NASCAR according to the new "Chase for the Championship" format.

6      During any six-race period, if a team's selected driver goes to another team, any team having that driver continues to carry that driver as their driver.  The selection is the driver not the car.  For example, if you have Steve Park and he loses his ride in the 1 car and goes to the 30 car, any team having him as a driver continues to carry him to the 30 car.  If an owner does not want to continue to carry the driver with the new team or if the driver does not get a new ride, the owner must make a change pursuant to Rule 8 and select a new driver at cost.

 7.     If a driver is injured, the owner automatically gets the replacement driver.  If the owner does not want the replacement driver, then the team may select a new driver consistent with paragraph 8.  For this purpose the selection must be from the Group of the driver initially selected, not the replacement driver.  For example, if Jeff Gordon is injured and replaced by Buckshot Jones, the new driver must be from the Group where Gordon came from, not Buckshot.

 8.     A team may drop and select any driver within the same Group as long as notice is provided to the Commissioner, the Webmaster and other teams, consistent with the timeframes addressed above.  Changes of this type to a team cost $2.00 per change.  However, no team may make more than 36 moves during the year.

 9.      During the last three weeks of the season, no team in a points paying position may make any move(s) that will result in the higher placed team mirroring the team immediately behind them.  Thus, the first place team with three races to go cannot make any change that will mirror the second place team’s drivers.  The same applies to second with regards to third, third with regards to fourth and fourth with regards to fifth.  The only exception would be where a higher placed team provides notice to the Commissioner of a change in driver(s) and the lower place team provides later notice to the Commissioner of a move that results in a mirroring.

 10.  A team’s weekly scores will be the total WC points accumulated by your team drivers, including bonus points.  If your driver starts the race, you will get credit for the Cup points awarded even if the driver has to be replaced during the race.  Standings are based on accumulated scores over the entire Cup season.

11. If a team is more than 400 points from the first place team at the start of the NASCAR Chase (10 races left), that team can pay $75.00 and start the next race (the first race of the Chase) 400 points behind the first place team.  Points accumulate as normal after that.

 12.  League fees are 90.00 and MUST be submitted along with the teams initial draft selection.  Failure to submit payment prior to the first Cup race at Daytona will void the team.

13. The team ahead at every adjustment phase will be awarded a $25.00 prize; at the 6th, 12th, 18th, 24th & 30th respectively. If more than one team are tied the payment will be pro rata.

14. Winning payments will be 55% for first, 25% for second, 15% for third, and 5% for fourth from the gross payments – less any payments made pursuant to rule 12.  If two or more teams are tied for any position at the end of the season, the tied teams will share equally in any payment.  For example if there is a tie for third and fourth, the 15% and 5% will be added together and divided by two.
